The Voice
On April first I went out and did what I NEVER would have done. Took a lot of courage. Not a lot of people have heard me sing, not even my mother.
The night before I awoke with the most intense butterflies and nerves. They went away so soon. The whole process took ALLLLL day.
Awoke at 4am got to the venue at about 5:30. Sooo many people in line already. It made it feel, REAL! I went with a friend, and his friend whom I just met on our way to LA from Sacramento. She is an amazing singer and song written too. Lol
Once they checked our passes and ID they ushered us into another line for bag checks and security guards.
They brought us to a giant room filled with chairs, massive amounts. There were two LONG tables filled with workers scanning our passes in and giving us our bracelets. The lady who helped me was HILLARIOUS. She also said I had the best signature she’s seen both days. Lol. At this point nerves kick in. Major time because I’m by myself at this point.
After a short wait they usher us into ANOTHER room with a SEA of chairs and people. People in groups singing EVERYWHERE. Couldn’t think so I put on my music and tried not to forget my lyrics. I did make a friend. Super nice.
I forgot to mention my friends had gone way before me. 7am. Mine was at 2. The line was fun. Met guys from Utah and jammed out.
Anyways, once in the cornucopia of chairs and massive crowds of people they took us up in groups of 10. I think we waited a good hour. Once we went up with the group of 10 they ushered us into another room. One producer and 5 chairs facing each other. He pulled randomly our passes and sung one after the other. EVERYONE was AMAZING. Seriously. I thought I had NO chance. As always, my turn was up, last. My mind was set on Valerie by Amy Winehouse but Brandi Carlisle/Adele Hiding My Heart came out. I finished and sat. Super scary and nerve racking.
He ave a speech and asked two people to stay. Let everyone go. As I was about to leave he asked me to stay. I was shocked. So we pretty much battled each other, again. I made it to the next round. Third time singing, and BAM. I was cut. My heart fell. Took me a second to recollect my thought. Said my thanks and walked away. I wanted to cry but since I was sooooo drained I couldn’t form tears. I made it farther than what I anticipated.
The experience was so worth it. Glad I got to go through it. I am so excited for my Xfactor audition. Not giving up!
